Weekend Blues

So, I have been sitting down at the station for most of the night and needless to say it has been an eventful night so far. I got down here around 7:30pm or so, and tried to sit down and eat my chinese food, but just like any other time I try and sit down here and do something a call goes out.

Call #1 for the night was an old lady that bumped her head and needed to go get a stitch or two. Not a call in our first due.

Once we cleared that call and let the first due rescue unit transport we came back to the station to sit around and try and decide what our dinner plans would be for the night. After twenty minutes or so of arguing as to which local eatery we would be going to another call goes out.

Call #2 also a call not in our first due. Was for a lady who was having a seizure, first due rescue unit took care of that.

Okay, so now it is time for us to go and eat, so we all pile back into our trucks and head out to Applebees. Now, the problem with all of us going out to eat is that even the smallest little comment gets taken out of context, but it atleast provides for a good inside joke or two. Dinner went well and to our surprise it wasn't interrupted by any calls or anything happening out in the parking lot.

After dinner the Wagon crew went out and got some ice cream, and those of us on the ambulance went and picked up another member and came back to the station. After a few minutes of joking around and making fun of something on tv the tones drop for:

Call #3 which of course is not in our first due, but it is back at the same location as call #2. We mark en route and maybe make it 2 miles down the road headed to this call, when the first due rescue unit marks that they will be able to handle without our help. So, we clear and head back home when we hear that they have just been kicked off the property by the home owner. One day I will figure out why people do the things they do.....

So, I finally get back to the station and think I have a few minutes to let my feet rest and sit around for a few minutes.... Oh how wrong I was.

Call #4, and guess what? Your right! Not in our first due. This call was a way down the road, took us about 10 minutes to get to the scene, but hey, that's Botetourt County for ya. Well, it was an accident which really didn't amount to much considering it was a single vehicle involved, but the driver did one hell of a job to hit two trees and walk away.

Well, I am now back at the station, and I am finally thinking about going to bed. Let's just see how long this lasts.
